- Has anyone successfully hooked an Amiga to a PC box running Win95 via
- Ethernet?
-
- Here is what I have and what I am trying to do...
-
-
- A 2-PC network (home) connected with NE2000 compatible ethernet cards (coax).
- They use the NE2000 drivers with MicroSoft's TCP/IP (built-in to Win95).
- WINS & DNS are disabled. Machines were assigned (by me) IP addresses
- of 100.100.100.2 (the gateway) and 100.100.100.3
-
- This setup works.
-
- There is also an A4000 (Warp-28 with a LOT of stuff) using an A2065
- Ethernet card & AmiTCP 4.0 demo. The net is terminated properly and
- the A4000 was assigned IP 100.100.100.1 (again, by me). The system
- says the Ethernet card is working, but I can't even PING the other
- machines (default gateway points to 100.100.100.2). I can successfully
- PING myself. Neither of the PCs can PING the Amiga (I checked packet size,
- etc. -- no good).
-
- The Amiga has been given the name of "amiga".
-
- I think the problem is the DOMAIN setup. The PCs also connect to the
- internet via TCP/IP and the domain is "magicnet.net" (a local provider).
- This is the only setting that can't be set differently for dialup and
- LAN -- everything else can! The PCs successfully handle the Internet
- as well as the LAN (minus the Amiga).
-
- I'd like to try Samba for the Amiga to get it up and running with the
- Win95 network, but I can't get ANY connection.
-
- Suggestions?
